These specimen résumés and applications are for two purposes: to serve as examples that illustrate points and inspire ideas; and to download for use as templates.

To select one to use as a template, scroll through the 1st page preview and choose the one that you most like the look of.  Don’t worry about the job the résumé is applying for, or the choice of headings; all that can be changed. Just choose the one with the design that most appeals to you. Choose the corresponding Microsoft® Word file from the list below and copy the file to your computer. Use this file as a template. Replace your details to create your own résumé, cover letter or statement of achievement. (Note: Only a sample of PDF files have been provided in this online preview. The complete list of files is available on the CD-ROM.)

Be aware that your computer may not have all the fonts that have been used in the specimen applications. In this case, you may find that the font is different, the format a little distorted and the way the text fits on the page altered.  This is not a major problem. You can change the font to another one on your computer than most closely resembles the original or you can experiment with different fonts to get the look you want. If you have access to The Job Winners Guide to Résumés, you may find Chapter 8 ‘More About Style’ useful.
