Unit 3: Winning Résumés

Writing résumés and applications that win jobs

To be as effective as possible, résumés and job applications must be tailored to the job being applied for. As prominent US résumé expert, Wendy Enelow has stated, the résumé is not so much about the applicant as it is about the job and how well the applicant will do it.

The more information that participants have, the greater their understanding of what the job entails, the easier it will be to tailor the résumé to the position and the more likely the application will be successful.

For this unit, participants will need to have access to Specimen Résumés & Applications. This access should include the 1st Page Preview PDF file for participants to choose a layout that most appeals to them. So that they can write the achievement statements which are so important in the creation of an effective application, they should also have hard copies of Unit 4: Skills and Achievements.
